Well, I hinted at it in the Alfred Smith thread, and Utah has landed its second commitment of the visit weekend, as ASA College RB Joseph Williams has committed to the Utes. I know that Williams hasn't gotten a lot of play with the national recruiting service guys, but this kid is a fantastic player. He's a big back (5-foot-11 inches, 205 pounds) with fantastic speed. He reminds me a lot of Booker in the sense that he can run through contact, but also has breakaway speed to run away from defenders when he gets out into the open.
We've been hinting about this guy for weeks and how he was going to help Ute fans get over the loss of Taylor Thomas. (Frankly, he's a more versatile prospect than Thomas). Williams has two years to play two, and should be able to take a little of the load off of Booker this fall with the potential of stepping in as a full time starter in 2016 as a senior.
He was an All Conference back this season, and here's his accomplishments from the ASA Web site:
"The 205-pound tailback was a true workhorse for the Avengers out of the backfield this season. Williams led the conference in rushing with 1093 yards in only 7 games played, giving him 156.1 yards per contest. He finished third in the conference in scoring with 10 touchdowns for the season. Williams, a transfer from UCONN also led the conference in all-purpose yards with 199 yards per game."
Here is his film, in case you haven't seen it:
