(#19) Utah vs. Georgetown
Sat, Mar 21, 2015 6:00 PM MST
Moda Center - Portland, OR
TV: CBS
Radio: ESPN 700
Line: Utah -4.5
Fresh off his dominant performance against Stephen F. Austin, Jakob Poeltl now looks to extend his hot hand against the Georgetown Hoya's. A school known for producing NBA bigs now faces one of the best bigs in the country. Jakob Poeltl finished with 18 points on 7-7 shooting and added 5 blocks and 8 rebounds in overall dominant performance. Utah's offense obviously works best when he is receiving the ball in the paint, and working from inside out. His presence alone is what opens things up for Dakari Tucker and Brandon Loveridge. Each of which played fantastically against SF Austin. Delon however, was only 2-7 from the field for 11 points.
The Hoyas have played the 8th toughest schedule in the country and have a #23 RPI as compared to Utah's #14. They are coming off of a 84-74 victory over Eastern Washington in the first round. They are a deep team that has 9 players that average at least 14 mpg on the season. They're led in scoring by junior guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (16.4 ppg) and have another good guard in Jabril Trawick to make up a great starting backcourt. Joshua Smith is a 6'10, 350 lb center that could give Poeltl and co fits in the front court. They like to speed up the pace and tend to get very physical. Should be a fun game.
