With Poeltl's decision out of the way, the picture for 2015-16 has become more clear. The Utes recently brought in Saddleback's Connor Clifford, but he was more of a Plan B, in case Poeltl left. This year, it would be shocking to see a mass exodus. All players are happy and content. Guys like Kuzma (just young) and Ogbe (injuries), whose playing time was minimal, are eager to turn the page and get ready for next year.
2016 kids to start keeping an eye on:
-Frank Jackson is far and away the Utes number one prospect and I'm hearing they like where they're currently sitting with him. His desire has been to serve a mission, but his elite basketball talent might keep him from doing so.
-Brendan Bailey once had a committable offer. Now that he has decommitted from ASU, I'm hearing the Bailey's have reached out to Utah, but they will continue to evaluate him this weekend and in July. Bailey is a good shooter, but the intrigue with him is his potential. He's still growing into his body -- he's about 6-foot-7 to 6-foot-8, currently. He is expected to get to about 6-foot-10. Word is that he will probably be a mission kid.
-Mitch Lightfoot is back in the game for the Utes after decommitting from New Mexico and he still has a committable offer. I'm hearing that Tommy Connor will be out to see him this week.
-Jace Johnson is continuing to get better and better and him and his family has been showing a lot of interest in the Utes. With the high probability that Poeltl declares for the draft in 2016, Johnson is still one to keep a close eye on.
-Yoeli Childs is starting to develop into one to watch this summer. I'm hearing that the program really likes him and will be paying close attention to him this weekend and in July.
-Connor Harding doesn't currently have a committable offer, but he's being watch closely by the program. He's a likely mission kid, so obviously that will be taken into consideration when projecting and balancing out future rosters.
As always, there are kids that I didn't mention, where I'll respect my sources and let you guys know when the time is right. Keep in mind that there's a fine line with committable offers, when it comes to basketball. Therefore, don't believe all reports that are out on Twitter from either HS players or their coaches.
