I've had a few questions about Johnny Stanton transferring from Nebraska, so I thought I'd address them in a new thread. Here goes:
- Yes, Utah recruited Stanton hard when he was in high school, and the Utes were in the running late before he committed to Nebraska.
- The above fact doesn't mean that Utah would necessarily be interested in him now. He clearly failed to make an impact at Nebraska. He was a 3rd stringer last season and was the 5th string guy after spring football. A transfer wasn't that surprising.
- Right now, it sounds like Stanton will enroll at Saddleback College, will play this fall, and will graduate in December with 2 years to play 2.
- Utah is looking at JUCO QBs, but they'd much rather have the right HS guy. A lot will depend on how well Hansen, Isom, Manning and company develop this fall. If there's another transfer, Utah just might take a JUCO guy.
- I'm certain that Utah will keep an eye on Stanton, but he's going to need to play well to warrant any kind of conversation about an offer at Utah. Washington bounceback Troy Williams at Santa Monica College is more likely to get a Utah offer at this point.
