Once again as a practice heading into a scrimmage, today was a lighter, non tackle practice. Planning on Saturday going a little long, the coaches really amped up the pace of practice today in order to get everything in, yet finish 15-20 minutes early.

1) The lone turnover today came by the hands of Andre Godfrey. I'm pretty sure Hansen was the QB, Michelle might have to correct me on that. Godfrey simply hung around in the middle of the field unnoticed. Once the ball was thrown he went to the left and caught the ball mid-air jumping to the left.

2) I can't specify one or two plays, but the D Line dominated the trenches today. The O Line couldn't get any push in the run game and the defense was constantly in the quarterbacks faces. Seni and Stevie T caused lots of problems up the guy and Fanaika repeatedly came off the edges.

3) The secondary struggled a bit today. You're never going to win all the battles, but they needed to be more consistent. Hobbs was too grabby in coverage, Allen struggled trying to keep stride against quick receivers (McClellon), Lee, Marcus Williams, and Thomas all dropped interceptions. Shah was upset about the consistency, but was consoled by the fact that each player was usually in the right position. This was the first day I've seen where there was a joint effort to struggle.

4) Norris is just a beast. No passes where competed across the middle while he was there. His lateral movement and his instincts are off the charts this spring. He won't be in the scrimmage because he is so solid. Masina and Tauteoli are learning a lot from him, he is great at letting them hang around and he is constantly explaining things to them.

5) Special Teams- The second string kicking team executed a nice fake field goal. Chase Hansen holds the ball for kicker, Jon Halliday. Hansen picked up the snap, spun around, rolled right and found Evan Moeai wide open in the endzone. Nice to see them working on stuff like that, Utah has always been aggressive on special teams. If it works, they will use it.
