What hope is there on the horizon?

I am troubled, as I am sure many others are as well, about how college sports are trending. I firmly believe college athletes should be given the right to NIL. However, the nature of the transfer portal and the come hither and go away nature of the sport is troubling (with complete tampering mixed in). There is NOTHING like this in sports across the globe. Contracts are contracts. The NCAA is the wild west. While I believe the old way was way too one sided to the school (locking kids in even when it is against their best interest), the pendulum has swung WAY to far the other way.

How does the NCAA, the schools, and the kids get control over what is becoming a dysfunctional system? 2 year contracts? Collective bargaining? "Salary caps?" etc.

I do not see how this current environment is sustainable.

Thoughts?

Bernard to the portal

I’ll be honest from talking to a close source to Micah, a lot of this falls on Tavion Thomas and his antics. Micah had people in his corner trying to keep him at Utah, but he made the final decision today.

This also has to do with him wanting to be the featured guy and that won’t happen with Ja’Quinden’s emergence.

Going back to Thomas, he’s caused hell in the running back room and I was told Tavion put multiple in a dark place.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Quinton Ganther. Micah loves him.

Nate Johnson mystery

Can anyone explain to me, hopefully the coaches said something, as to why Nate wasn't inserted into the game.
I know the redshirt thing was talked about and it was my understanding that the NCAA had ruled bowl games
wouldn't count towards the four games.
Barnes is a great story but not a D1 qb, although I do admire and respect him for what he has done at the U.

Two big basketball games this weekend

Had a great time at the Rose Bowl, despite the loss. Now it's time to get serious about basketball.

Our defense is very good. Main area we need to improve is we give up too many offensive rebounds.

Our offense has been inconsistent. Turnovers continue to be a problem.

Those two weaknesses have made it so our opponent gets many more shots off than we do, which tempers the benefit of our good defense.

In any event, Oregon State is a game we should win while Oregon (which hasn't played particularly well) routinely kicks our butt and I won't expect anything different until it has actually happened.

It's a fun team to watch and much improved over last year.
